EMP is the "Experience Music Project," the Jimi Hendrix memorial of sorts in Seattle. Yes played a free concert there on July 14, 2002, the day before the Kirkland rehearsal - didn't they participate in the opening ceremonies? The recording has been mastered by me - it's pretty flat in its original form. There is some distortion from screamers and the music in a couple of spots, but nothing overwhelming. A couple of conversations about earwax are plainly audible. (SMT 2002-10-29)

This is a great recording of Yes early in the summer tour. They've gotten their sea legs now, and it really shows! It's an oldie, back before they reinstated Firebird and We Have Heaven, and before Jon was singing happy birthday to everyone. Whitefish is a great jam. I don't know why this one took so long to surface. (SMT 2002-11-13)

The source for this VCD suffered from MANY video and audio defects -- freezes, digi-breakups, cuts (esp. during SSOTS, and an audio problem during the middle of Awaken), and generally bad editing by those who transferred it from the original videos to DVD.

Thanks to the hard work of Dave E, Neal W & Shawn F... The video was shot from the Howe side for the first half of the show and the Squire side for the second half. This video is complete with the exception of Jon's little tour / birthday song.  Shot up close, with a few momentary blocked shots. Dave and crew did a great job on this with quality picture & sound + this VCD has entry points for each song.

"This is a complete stereo soundboard recording that is a different mix than the broadcast version (perhaps this is unmixed). This one is better (IMO) because Chris and Rick are more prominent. As someone who attended the show said, "Sunday night was the 'all Chris Squire' show, too. I've never heard him play like that before... He became my favorite bass player all over again that night." Also, this one doesn't have the phoney audience that got added to the broadcast version. This is NOT a soundboard the likes of the Camden 2002 mono. This is the real deal, daddy-o. I believe this is the same recording that was used for the broadcast, particularly because both the soundboard and the pre-FM have a click at the point where Jon introduces SSOTS and says "...be like...". Now, if you're listening for that click on "Desert Light", you won't find it. It was removed. :) Only 16 seconds of the Firebird opening were captured on the soundboard recording (or, at least as I received it). So I guess technically this isn't a complete soundboard. For "Desert Light", the Firebird was restored from an audience recording. As for the source and lineage information for this soundboard, it never showed up. My source's source was unable to find out anything. I guess we just chalk this one up as a "mystery soundboard". The source discs were ripped via EAC (secure mode). Click removal and Firebird patching were done with SoundForge 4.5. Tracks were joined with SHNTOOL, re-tracked with CDWave, and converted to SHN via mkwACT. The SHN files have seek tables appended for the benefit of WinAmp/SHNamp users." - jcb, July 2003.

Absorbed using Awia Mini-Disc (AM-C80) and Core Sound binaural mics. Edited & split into tracks with Cool Edit Pro. Mics facing up - 24" apart. Seated 2nd row to the right. Small venue with great acoustics. A+ audience recording. This is the opening night of the second leg of the Classic Yes 2002 tour. Great setlist, couldn't be better with CttE, Awaken, SSotS, Starship Trooper in one night. Starship Trooper is exceptionally good, although the band messes it up half-way through, they end up laughing about it and develop into a jam. Great stuff!

From reading the reviews and talking to those who attended the earlier shows, I think this was the night they hit their stride in the second leg. Very solid performance, the major error being a false start of HotS. This was my first taping effort, and I am quite pleased with the results. It is not without flaw, however: I had some trouble with the disc swap and must have pulled the mic cable partially out of the recorder. The second disc is thus from a mono source. Robb has done a great job with some natural-sounding simulated stereo - I'm not sure it is noticeable unless you are specifically listening for it. The other issue related to this is that I missed the first few seconds of We Have Heaven and the banter preceding. Robb has patched this from the Steve W.'s Buckeye Heaven recording from this night. There are also ~ 4 clipped notes in Whitefish, and for that reason I'd have to give the second disc an A-. The first disc is an A, though (obviously you have to filter some built-in bias, but I've only given two recordings from the summer leg an A, if that's any indication). I was at the Oct 31 2002 show (State College Pa), and recorded using a Sharp mini-disc. It was broken into tracks on the recorder / player and burned to cdr. I personally would rate quality at a "B" or so. The bass overpowered the mics some (especially towards the beginning). It does have the complete show though. (M.A.M, 2002-12-18)

This is the show with the children's choir singing Nine Voices. Finally got a copy of this recording, which was surprisingly hard to find. Great sound with one big exception: there were burner problems of some kind with Starship Trooper (encore, disk 2 track 7) and Würm sounds like crap. Lots of breaking up, silent gaps, etc. Hopefully a cleaner copy will turn up eventually. I did what I could with it, but it still sucks. The rest of the concert is a good performance, nicely recorded by someone sitting next to someone sitting next to the guy who sent me the recording. The taper had made the first guy promise to be quiet in exchange for a copy of the tape. Unfortunately, the path back to the taper is lost so we can't obtain a good ST from him. (SMT 2003-01-29)
