1989-08-28 ~ ABWH At The Summit
I am pleased to announce my newest tree: Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe at The Summit, Houston, Texas, August 28, 1989. This seems to be a rare recording as I haven't seen it on any trade lists other than Ruud's.
I went to this concert but did not record it. Ruud had it and sent me a copy. I remastered and patched it in a couple of places, and it sounds great! The band put in a hell of a performance, too.
Tony Levin was taken to the hospital after this performance, and the next four nights of the tour were cancelled while the band got Jeff Berlin up to speed. But Tony played his ass off during the show!
No Bruford/Levin duet this night, probably because Tony didn't feel like it.
The taper had a problem during the first two minutes of Time and a Word, so there is some hiss during that part. I reduced the hiss some, but it is still audible.
The endings of And You And I and Brother of Mine were cut due to tape flips; I patched them and you'll have trouble finding where (I hope!)
This is one of the best audience boots I've heard prior to the Symphonic series from last summer. I do not think it was a digital recording, but it sounds that good.
For more info, check out my write-up of the concert on Forgotten Yesterdays.
