1991-04-16 ~ Spectral Unification
Thanks to Dian Lau I got a hold of this incredible audience recording of a fantastic performance! It was so good that I just had to share it!
Dian rates the sound quality on this one an "A", and she admits to being a bit of a conservative grader, so you know this one is a delight to listen to! I had to do very little to this one: primarily just cleaning up a few rough transitions.
There is little-to-no audience chatter near the taper (who happens to be a friend of Dian's). The enthusiasm of the audience comes through in this recording, but doesn't get in the way of the music. And this crowd was charged-up for sure! Here's the lineage on this one:
Recorded with Nakamichi shotgun mics into a Sony D6 cassette
recorder.
Maxell metals (masters) -> Maxell XLIIS (1st gen) -> CDR, via stand-alone burner
(2nd gen)
Thus I would consider the set of discs I was working with to be a digital copy of a second-generation recording.
This is one of the early Union shows where Yes concluded the concert with Starship Trooper. Also, they play LDR instead of Saving My Heart. The show is complete. Here's the track list:
DISC ONE (67 min)
Firebird intro
Yours Is No Disgrace
Rhythm Of Love
Shock To The System
Heart Of The Sunrise
Howe solo
Make It Easy/Owner Of A Lonely Heart
And You And I
DISC TWO (58 min)

I've Seen All Good People
Changes
Rabin solo
Long Distance Runaround
Whitefish/Amazing Grace
Lift Me Up
DISC THREE (46 min)

Dian also provided me with a correction regarding the SPECTRAL UNIFICATION show (4-16-91). Her friend who recorded it double-checked his records and it turns out he did not use Naks, but Beyer's instead. Specifically, Beyer M-700 hypercardioid ambient microphones.
As Dian said: "Not that that will mean anything to 99.9 percent of YesSwap readers anyway...", but there you have it.
Also my original announcement for the tree had Changes and Rabin solo transposed in the track list.
